Nas wants more love at the Grammys

Nas sat down with Dave Grohl, who has been guest hosting on Chelsea Lately and talked about the Grammys and the state of hip-hop. Nas is up for four Grammys for his work on Life Is Good and spoke on the representation of hip-hop in in the Grammy community. “It’s cool. I feel it could be a little bit more loved, though,” Nas replied. “Hip-hop is making a lot of noise, it should get some more spotlight.”

Nas went on to talk about beefing and explained, “I make fun of Coldplay, but I would never say that out loud.” Nas continued, “Once you say it, you gotta ride with it. You gotta be true. Hip-hop is really standoffish, really competitive. It’s really about who’s Number One all the time, and sometimes it gets out of hand.”

Sunday’s Grammy Awards will be flesh (and fun) free

The people behind this year’s Grammy Awards are attempting to be proactive in saving themselves money they would normally be fined by the FCC. Rather than risk any ‘indecent exposures’ during the live show, attendees for Sunday’s Grammy Awards have been sent a notice outlining new clothing restrictions put into place.

The notice, which has been sent to a long list of performers, including Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, Sting, Miranda Lambert, fun., Maroon 5, the Black Keys, Bruno Mars, and many more, states:

“Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure.”

I genuinely don’t know whether Adam Levine and Sting are able to perform with their shirts on. I think it heats up their vocal chords and makes singing impossible. Plus, no side boob? How are they going to have a red carpet with no side boob? This is a travesty. Let’s just cancel the Grammy Awards. There will be no Grammy Awards this year.

On a totally unrelated note, MUCH is airing the 2013 Brit Awards on Wednesday, February 20 at 10E/7P, which will feature performances from Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, One Direction, Mumford and Sons, Muse, Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande and Ben Howard. Wanna know what the Brit Awards are banning clothing-wise? Nuffin.

Taylor Swift added as performer for Brit Awards

February is shaping up to be a month full of award show performances for Taylor Swift. The country singer is set to perform at this weekend’s Grammy Awards on Sunday, sharing the stage with a huge list of performers, including Bruno Mars, fun., The Lumineers, Rihanna, Kelly Clarkson, Maroon 5 and many more. Announced today, Swift will be continuing her award show tour, hitting up the Brit Awards later this month.

This year’s show is set to take place at he O2 Arena in London and will be hosted by English comedian James Corden. Known for his raunchy sense of humour, viewers will have to tune in to see whether Corden takes any jabs at the fail relationship between Swift and her former flame and fellow performer Harry Styles.

Kylie Minogue signs with Roc Nation, just go with it

Kylie Minogue is the latest artist to sign with Jay-Z’s label, Roc Nation. The Australian pop legend joins a long list of who’s who in the music industry right now, including Rihanna, Solange, Rita Ora, J. Cole, Mark Ronson and M.I.A.

Roc Nation released the following statement about Minogue, saying “We would like to welcome Aussie singer, recording artist, songwriter, actress and designer Kylie Minogue to the Roc Nation family! In a career now spanning 25 years, Kylie has released 11 studio albums, two live CDs, eight live concert DVDs, a greatest hits double album, and multiple video packages. She has released over 50 hit singles worldwide, including the Grammy-winning Come Into My World, and has sold more than 68 million albums worldwide. Needless to say, we’re excited to have Kylie join the Roc fam.”

Kylie has confirmed that she is working on new music and to expect a new song from her ‘soon’. While the pairing seems like a bit of an odd one, let’s remember that Pauly D is signed to G-Unit, folk singer Vanessa Carlton is with Murder Inc. and Limp Bizkit gets paid by Young Money.

Minogue isn’t the only new addition to the Roc Nation family. Producer Timbaland, whose latest piece of work includes Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s Suit & Tie, signed to the hip hop label last week.

Justin Timberlake releases album artwork for The 20/20 Experience

Justin Timberlake is sticking with the optical theme for his third studio album. Titled The 20/20 Experience, the cover art features Timberlake in the middle of a very formal eye exam. Justin also revealed the track listing for the ten song-album, which in addition to his lead single Suit & Tie, includes Pusher Love Girl, Spaceship Coupe and Strawberry Bubblegum. I’m assuming these will make sense once we hear the tracks.

It’s unclear whether Timberlake has any guest vocals in addition to Jay-Z on the new disc, since Jay’s name isn’t mentioned on the track listing. Maybe a surprise appearance by one of Timberlake’s fellow N’Sync members? Ya, probably not. The 20/20 Experience is set to hit shelves on March 19.

Ex-Destiny’s Child members support Super Bowl performance

It’s so nice to see maturity in any workplace and the entertainment industry is no different. After Beyonce and Destiny’s Child’s amazing performance on Sunday, two ex-members of Destiny’s Child had nothing but words of praise for the girls. LaTavia Roberson talked to Celebuzz and shared, “Obviously, seeing Beyonce perform was the highlight for me. I got a real surprise when both Kelly [Rowland] and Michelle [Williams] both popped-up on the stage like that. I thought they all looked great and did a good job with their dance moves. Beyonce was especially amazing. She looked fabulous and her voice was really strong.”

LaTavia continued, “It was great to see them all performing together and I have no bitter or bad feelings toward any of those women. I wish them all the best. I am at a good place in my life and things always work out for a reason… I am pleased that Destiny’s Child got back together for the Super Bowl – the fans seemed to really enjoy it too!” LeToya Luckett also tweeted out, “I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E. #soproud The MOST entertaining Super Bowl I’ve ever seen in MY life from start to finish! #handsdown”.
