ABCD – AnyBody Can Dance is turning out to be a surprise hit at the box office. The movie is very well received among the critics and has opened to humongous collections compared to its pre-release expectations.
It is India’s first 3D dance movie, starring India’s most reputed dancer Prabhu Deva in the lead role and also has some more eminent Bollywood choreographers like Ganesh Acharya, Salman Yusuf Khan as the supporting cast. Talking about the success of ABCD – AnyBody Can Dance Prabhu Deva says “I think I must hike my remuneration now as an actor! Jokes apart, I am really happy for the success of the film and hope it reaches out to all kinds of audience”.
Coming to the numbers, ABCD was made with humble 12 crore rupees and has grossed whooping 5.5 crores on the first day of its release itself. Credit has to go the producers who made sure pre-release hype was created by making use of the theme of the movie.
Not to forget director of the movie Remo D’Souza one of the top most choreographers in the contemporary Bollywood who had tasted moderate success as a director through his debut venture F.A.L.T.U and took a brave decision to direct a movie based on art(dance) in the era of masala movies. The best part is that he pulled it off successfully. Hope success of ABCD paves way for many more directors to go for the art films bravely.
