Adele breathes in and out, makes money

Adele breathes in and out, makes money

So apparently Adele makes about $65,000. A day. I would say many Canadians don’t make that in a year. I also suppose that’s what happens when you create two absolute masterpieces (her albums 19 and 21 were chart toppers). It is reported that Adele has about $16.4 million dollars in the bank and $7.3 million dollars due in royalties. Adele’s company Melted Stone Ltd. apparently reported that Adele had $545,600 worth of assets last year and this year with her new wealth from her hit track Skyfall, that’s going to be pennies in comparison. I wonder what she’ll spend her money on?

Check out Adele’s hit video for Someone Like You below and tell us what you’d do with $65,000 a day in the comments section.

Justin Bieber shoots second SNL promo, it’s getting worse

Justin Bieber shoots second SNL promo, it’s getting worse

Just when we thought Justin Bieber reading his own name off cue cards in his first set of promos for this weekend’s episode of SNL couldn’t get any worse, it did. I would like to clarify that I am not blaming Justin for the second set of terrible promos. Sure, he could have done a better job of acting natural during the first shoot with cast member Keenan Thompson (watch here if you must). This one I blame on the writers at SNL.

In today’s promo, Justin and the usually hilarious Jason Sudeikis shoot three separate skits about, wait for it, Bieber fever. Is it 2010 and nobody told me? I hate when that happens!

Seriously guys, Bieber fever? In the last year alone, Justin has had a baby mama scandal, a huge break up with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, a drug scandal, about one million speeding tickets and numerous run-ins with paparazzi. He just released an acoustic album. Pretend his mic doesn’t work! Hilarious! And he continually wears his pants around his knees. I mean , the kid is handing you skits on a silver platter and you’re giving us some Bieber Fever business.

Plus, Bieber and Sudeikis have had a long-standing feud. There’s about five skits in that alone! Click here to watch Sudeikis actually being funny and talking about Justin Bieber and watch the promo below if you must.

Watch a teaser for One Direction’s 3D documentary

Watch a teaser for One Direction’s 3D documentary

Super Size Me filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has been tasked with bringing international boy band One Direction to the big screen. Though filiming for the documentary only began in January, Spurlock has already released a short clip of the doc, which includes concert footage and behind the scenes shots of the guys hanging out backstage and in their hotel rooms.

Spurlock, who has confirmed he was considered to direct concert films for Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, said he wanted to work with the group because he is fascinated by their meteoric rise to fame since competing on The X Factor UK in 2010. Spurlock explained “These guys have gotten so huge in such a short amount of time – why? What makes them more special than any other people?”

Morgan was recently praised by the band, comprised of Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, as the perfect choice to work on their film. Niall said “Morgan works well because … he did a lot of documentary movies. That’s more so what we want our movie to be. It’s going to be a concert movie, but with a documentary side than concert side so we wanted to get our personalities across because the fans know us, but we want them to know us deeper.”

Check out the footage below and don’t miss One Direction performing at the 2013 Brit Awards on Wednesday, February 20 at 10E/7P, along with Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Mumford and Sons, Muse, Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande and Ben Howard.

Movie Review: Special 26

Movie Review: Special 26

special-26-innerNeeraj Pandey’s last cinematic outing, “A Wednesday“, was an imaginative film that twisted and turned as the plot unwound, giving movie watchers a fresh new experience. His latest, “Special 26″, is not of the same calibre but is passably enjoyable fare. Inspired from a real-life jewellery heist, the film tells the story of fraudsters who con powerful men into parting with their ill gotten wealth.

For the first time in a long while, Akshay Kumar actually acts in a movie. As leaders of the gang of theieves, Akshay and Anupam Kher put in a great performance, full of charm and guile. Manoj bajpayee, as the CBI officer chasing after them is super effective, his commanding presence filling up the screen. The story unspools in the 1980s and the chase between the cop and the thieves takes us on a trip down memory lane.

The cinematographer brings to life the landscape of Delhi, showing a Connaught Place filled with brand names that have faded from memory. Hatchback Marutis criss-cross the streets, and Anupam Kher shows the bafflement of a generation that doesn’t understand new technology. The slapstick which has become a hallmark of Akshay Kumar movies is thankfully missing and the humor is instead very subtle. The only weak link here is the romance between Akshay and Kajal Aggarwal, which does nothing for the story.

The final word on the movie: Special 26 is not a masterpiece but go watch it if you would like to pass the time and have fun doing it.
