Bollywood actress Sridevi was driven by a female taxi driver to Design One, a fund-raising exhibition, she inaugurated in Delhi, recently. The female cabbie named Savita, works for Sakha Cabs which aims to provide safe transport for women in the capital.
Sridevi’s latest flick English Vinglish saw the actress’s reel character supporting women empowerment, where she was seen making laddoos and learning English. Sridevi was all praises for Savita.
“Like the first time how I worked with a woman director in English Vinglish, I travelled with a woman taxi driver. It was quite exciting and thrilled,” Sridevi said.
The actress added, “Her name is Savita and she was really good.”
Hinting at the changes that are taking place in terms of women empowerment, Sridevi had said in an interview, “Things are changing now and that’s the reason I’m here.”
Sahachari Foundation, which organised the exhibition, donated a car to Sakha Cabs for Women. Design One is an initiative that showcased the products of young Indian designers like Masaba Gupta, Abha Dalmia, Falguni Mehta, Anjali Kalia, Rina Singh and Neeru & Madhu to raise funds for an NGO.
