Super Size Me filmmaker Morgan Spurlock has been tasked with bringing international boy band One Direction to the big screen. Though filiming for the documentary only began in January, Spurlock has already released a short clip of the doc, which includes concert footage and behind the scenes shots of the guys hanging out backstage and in their hotel rooms.
Spurlock, who has confirmed he was considered to direct concert films for Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, said he wanted to work with the group because he is fascinated by their meteoric rise to fame since competing on The X Factor UK in 2010. Spurlock explained “These guys have gotten so huge in such a short amount of time – why? What makes them more special than any other people?”
Morgan was recently praised by the band, comprised of Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, as the perfect choice to work on their film. Niall said “Morgan works well because … he did a lot of documentary movies. That’s more so what we want our movie to be. It’s going to be a concert movie, but with a documentary side than concert side so we wanted to get our personalities across because the fans know us, but we want them to know us deeper.”
Check out the footage below and don’t miss One Direction performing at the 2013 Brit Awards on Wednesday, February 20 at 10E/7P, along with Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Mumford and Sons, Muse, Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande and Ben Howard.
