Harry Potter alumni up for magical new roles

Harry Potter alumni up for magical new roles

Harry Potter Trio 2

The last Harry Potter film may have ended two summers ago, but for us fans, the magic lives on through Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. So here’s your update on their upcoming projects.

Radcliffe continues to surprise us by choosing unexpected characters. Since Harry Potter ended, Radcliffe has played a singing and dancing entrepreneur in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, a gay poet in Kill Your Darlings and a father in The Woman in Black. If that wasn’t enough to change his image of the boy wi ard we grew up with, Radcliffe is in talks to play the hunchbacked Igor in Frankenstein.

Watson tackled an American accent and shared a romance with Logan Lerman in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Coming up, she steals from celebrities in Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring and faces an epic flood in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah. Her next possible role could have her wearing glass slippers. The actress is in talks to star in Kenneth Branaugh’s live action adaptation of the fairy tale, Cinderella.

Grint’s film projects have not been as high profile as Watson or Radcliffe’s, but fans will still see their favourite red-haired wi ard. This time, Grint will be heading to the small screens. Grint is set to star in Super Clyde, a television comedy where he plays a fast food employee-turned superhero. Considering it’s a CBS sitcom, it’s safe to assume he will be using an American accent.

Based on these film choices, the trio of actors is trying to shed the image they’ve held for ten years. But for those of us who grew up with the series, they will always be Harry, Ron and Hermione.

What do you think of their upcoming projects? What characters do you want to see Daniel, Emma or Rupert play next?
