The beef between Azealia and Angel sucks

In case you haven’t read, heard, tweeted (and then retweeted) about it, here’s the first beef of 2013: Azealia Banks and Angel Haze are going at it on Twitter. You read the great breakdown on The Huffington Post here. In a nutshell, Azealia and Angel, two amazing female emcees, have started hurling insults and diss tracks against each other and their relationship has basically imploded in a very public and very distasteful manner.

But I suppose taste has nothing to do with it.

At the end of the day, after the dust on their Twitter handles have settled, what will these two young, beautiful, talented rappers be left with? An internet-born legacy that will taint their names til they die or the internet ceases to exist (the internet never forgets). Tweets can be deleted, but the impact on the two rappers and their fans and not to mention the negative energy? That will remain.

Remember that comment that beef between 50 Cent and French Montana? French commented on beefing in an interview with Complex saying, “… [W]hen you beef, you put negative energy out there and it brings negative energy back. When you put something positive out there, it brings positive energy back. I feel like if you want to beef go to the streets, beef with n****s that really wanna beef. If you have nothing to live for. Beef is not about money.”

French also reminded Complex readers that, “[With rap] it’s like, you ain’t going to see them people you beefing with. You lying. You got security, you’re never at the same events… Don’t act like you want problems.”

Montana touches on a very good point. This kind of beefing between Angel and Azealia is so incredibly lame. Like online bullies, they hide behind their screens and their 140-characters. It gives them a freedom to write and say incredibly uneducated things. Angel commented on Azealia’s skin colour. Azealia ripped into Angel for (supposedly) being attracted to her. Like those things have any relevancy on a person’s character.

If we’re going to talk character, let’s just say that these two have two very poor ones. Such a shame too, because their music sounded promising. Let’s see if French Montana is right.
