Movie Review : Murder 3

Movie Review : Murder 3

Murder 3

Its Vishesh Films’ new movie from their pet franchise ‘Murder’ releasing today. Vishesh Films who have always delivered sizzling erotic thrillers seem to have slightly gone off path with ‘Murder 3′.

Starting off, the story is about a girl Roshini (Aditi Rao Hydari) who decides to leave everything in South Africa to accompany her boyfriend Vikram’s (Randeep Hooda) shooting assignment in Mumbai. However after few days, she is missing and Vikram reports to the police. Within few days, Vikram gets into a relationship with a waitress Nisha (Sara Loren), and which makes police think that he is prime suspect.  The rest of the story is about getting to know the whereabouts of Roshini and unearthing secrets.

The movie starts off on a slower note and continues to be dragged. It is only near the interval the movie starts to pick up pace. However, the second half of the movie holds you on the edge of your seat.  It is much more crisper and nicely paced.  The film has a lot of loop holes and is loosely written. Considering that the movie is a remake of the Spanish thriller “The Hidden Face” which was known for its tight script and fine screenplay, Murder 3 doesn’t do complete justice to the movie. Suprisingly unlike its prequels, murder 3 doesn’t have any erotic scenes or even a murder.

Vishesh Bhatt (son of Mahesh Bhatt), does a decent job as a first time director but has a long way to go before he can do films like his dad. Randeep Hooda is good as his character keep swinging from philosophical to being romantic. Aditi Rao Hydari starts off poorly but does her role in the second half to perfection and her performances is something that you will take back. Sara Loren who debuted with forgettable Himesh’s starrer “Kajraare”  is gorgeous in this movie and provides much needed oomph. Cinematography is really good especially the scenes in South Africa. The background score is good and comprehends the movie really well. Music of the film is ok since there is no track apart from “Hum Jee Lenge” that you take back.

Over all the movie is good movie to watch, but it could’ve been way better if the story was much more grippy in the first half. I am going with 3 /5 rating for this movie.
