The 2013 Oscars went down last night and were full of hits, misses and one gif-worthy fall. First-time host Seth McFarlane had viewers split with his humour, but received an overall thumbs up for his musical-themed Oscars, incoporating everyone from Harry Potter to Captain Kirk. The biggest surprise of the night was courtesy of Argo’s win for Best Picture, beating out Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln and the big budget musicial, Les Miserables.

Best Recovery
On her way up the stairs to accept her Oscar for Best Actress, Jennifer Lawrence suffered most winner’s worst nightmare with her fall. She gracefully recovered and managed to mumble out a coherent speech.
Reason We’re Happy the Award Season Is Done
Anne Hathaway was wonderful as Fontaine in Les Mis. No one is arguing that. Did she deserve an Oscar? Yes. Did she deserve all the awards she’s won this season? Yes. Has she become the Taylor Swift of the acting world with her constant “Ermahgherd I just won?!” face? Yes. That’ll do, Anne. That’ll do.
Most Endearing
The clear front runner, Adele was still shocked when she picked up an Oscar for Best Original Song for Skyfall. Everyone that watched her perform live earlier in the night knew the award was hers for the taking, but the UK singer was still genuinely happy and surprised to be part of the prestigious club of Oscar-winners, unable to hold back tears during her speech.

Let’s add ‘dancing’ to the list of talents Charlize Theron excels at, just in case ‘pulling off that short hair’ wasn’t enough to make you jealous.
