Frank Ocean was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award for being an outstanding figure in music within the interests of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people. Last summer Frank Ocean revealed on his Tumblr account that his first love was with a male man. This revelation was a breakthrough for the hip-hop and rap communities as the topic of homosexuality is not typically discussed openly in the media and in it culture. Frank Ocean represents a change and a progression not only for worlds of hip-hop and rap, but for all creative industries as well.
The GLAAD Media Awards are to be given out in New York (March 16), Los Angeles (April 20) and San Francisco (May 11), and are awardedto praise fair and accurate representation of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the media. Congratulations Frank, for being nominated.
