Grab a plate of Chicken of the Sea and pull a chair up to the TV! Jessica Simpson is returning to the small screen and not just in Weight Watchers commercials with Jennifer Hudson (but ladies are looking gooood). Simpson, who previously starred in her own reality show with ex-husband Nick Lachey, has revealed she is filming a new scripted pilot for NBC inspired by her life.
The 32-year-old singer, who shares an eight-month-old daughter Maxwell with her fiance Eric Johnson and is currently pregnant with their second child, told the Hollywood Reporter “I am so excited to work with Ben and NBC again, this time on a scripted comedy. I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life — so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!”
Producer Ben Silverman, who is helping with the pilot, said “Jessica Simpson is truly a modern-day Lucy with incredible comedic chops. From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica’s character approach a variety of ‘everyday’ circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud.” Jessica Simpson as Lucille Ball? Huh.
